It was a tough BSB round for Gaerne & Five’s British sponsor Christian Iddon, who experienced a succession of difficulties during the 3rd round of British Superbike.
During the free practice session, Iddon was never out of the top 8 positions and entered qualifying after achieving 5th overall fastest time of the weekend.
However, it appears that Iddon’s specious start quickly became spoilt by misfortune; the British rider made an error and failed to muster a good enough lap to progress through to the top 10, which eventually culminated in a small crash at the hairpin. Fortunately neither Iddon nor the bike suffered any damage but Iddon, though not defeated, had to settle for fifteenth place, despite starting-off with podium-promise.
A slightly more positive outcome for Peter Hickman though, after participating in the Isle of Man TT, Hickman then tackled Knockhill in admirable fashion despite fickle weather conditions, Hickman fought for the podium in both races before being forced to settle for fourth and fifth respectively.
