Assen TT: Incredible win for Christian Iddon & Jason O’Halloran secures his 7th podium of the championship!

Gaerne’s sponsored rider, Christian Iddon, has experienced a tumultuous season of British Superbike; he opened the season on a high, until he experienced a short series of unlucky races during  mid season,  yet Iddon has proven he still has what it takes to beat his rivals, since he secured a commendable pole position during the practice round (under wet and windy conditions) at Assen TT.

Iddon took the lead during the 11th round of BSB and sped a head of the current title holders Shane Byrne and Leon Haslam, for the top spot in the practice round. In Race 1, he came 12th and then climbed into the top 10 in race 2,  where he came 8th.

After a what could be considered as a temporary blip, Jason O’Halloran made it back  on the podium again during the Assen TT.  Recently O’halloran has been suffering minor misfortunes (which have caused him to retire from races), but after the Assen TT, Ixon’s sponsored rider has regained his old podium-standard again.

O’Halloran came in a fifth place in race one and results further improved for him in race 2  (since he managed to complete the fastest lap of the race) and finish  in 3rd position. After the race O’Halloran said:  ‘ We had a good solid race and we led parts of it and it was really tight. When someone came up behind me and passed me I tried to counter attack straightaway on the same lap.’ It’s clear the Ixon pilot has established a strong strategy against his opponents  and is optimistic for the next round in Brands Hatch.

O’Halloran currently stands at fifth in the BSB championship but he is now only four points behind  rider James Elision (4th), so we are excited to see what possible turn-arounds Brands Hatch will bring!
