X-lite pilot Danny Kent started the Phillip Island Moto3 race ready to win the championship, but a fall on lap fourteen after a colission with Antonelli (which also brought down rival Nolan rider Enea Bastianini) meant all he could do was watch from the sidelines.

Kent and Bastianini were among the 16 riders that failed to finish the Phillip Island round and could only watch from the sidelines as Miguel Oliveira claimed his fourth win of the season.

This saw Oliveira move ahead of Bastianini for second in the standings, 40 points from Kent with 50 remaining, keeping the Englishman’s championship celebrations on hold.
